Located in the heart of the village, just next to the Church of Foz, stands the old Casa do Arco.
It was here that Jaime Jorge Umbelino (1916β2007) was born β a writer, linguist, teacher, and chronicler.
Today, the Dr. Jaime Umbelino House-Museum, composed of several rooms and an inner garden, offers visitors a historical insight into the ways of life and traditions of the people of Foz do Arelho. The space hosts artist residencies and promotes thematic exhibitions, cultural gatherings, and initiatives aimed at both the local community and visitors.
