ARTISTIC RESIDENCY “ALIGNED BY THE SAME WOOL” 🐑

Artistic Residency “Aligned by the Same Wool” is an initiative aimed at valuing the wool of the Churra Algarvia sheep, one of the 52 native breeds of Portugal. The residency will take place in different phases between April and September 2025, culminating in a final exhibition in Loulé, in October 2025.

In addition to promoting the economic value, collection, processing, and dissemination of information about Churra wool, this initiative seeks to strengthen ties between the local producer community, trainers, and textile artisans.

Its objectives also include the empowerment of professionals involved in the Churra wool production chain and the promotion of its cultural and historical heritage.

The Municipality of Loulé, in collaboration with Algarchurra – Association of Breeders of the Churra Algarvia Sheep, plans to carry out several actions to highlight the value of this breed.
